Dr. Allyson Ruha
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Allyson Ruha, Psy.D., ABSMIP, is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides virtual psychotherapy for adults. Dr. Ruha provides evidenced-based individual, group, and family services through a compassionate and culturally sensitive framework. She has extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy and strives to support clients in building on strengths, increasing coping skills, and making changes in line with their values and goals.
Dr. Ruha holds board certification in serious mental illness psychology. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She completed her internship training at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center/Worcester State Hospital in 2002. For the past 17 years, she has served Veterans and their families through the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. In addition to direct clinical services provided, Dr. Ruha manages recovery-oriented programs that provide services to Veterans with acute mental health needs and serious mental illness diagnoses. Dr. Ruha has been involved in psychology training since 2007; serving in many roles including as a Training Director for an APA-accredited internship program for 10 years. She continues to provide supervision for psychology trainees and participates nationally as a site visitor chair for APA’s Commission on Accreditation. She has been active in local and national psychological associations, serving in various roles to include past President of the Bexar County Psychological Association (BCPA), Membership Chair to APA’s Division 18, Psychologists in Public Service, and Secretary/Treasurer to Division 18’s VA Section. She currently serves as Treasurer for APA’s SMI Specialty Council. In 2024, she was honored by being selected as BCPA’s Fellow of the Year.
